EUROPEAN STUDENTES

Students coming from European countries which live in Italy for a period longer than 3 months can enter the health ensurance from the national healt system (SSN) by going to a basic doctor. You need the european health card, a copy of it and an id card. This inscription does not require you to inscribe at the anagraph office of Ancona.

To know which doctors you can refer to, please ask to the local ASL.

The EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) is a document that certifies your right to receive free health care in all countries of the European Union and is the equivalent of the Italian TEAM or European Health Insurance Card more commonly known as the new tax code card. To get the card it's very easy: go to the link and fill the form. >>https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/europe-travel-insurance/ehic/

If you are resident in the UK and therefore pay taxes in the UK, it is a good idea to apply for a card which is valid in all EU countries and therefore also in Italy.

NON-EUROPEAN STUDENTS

Citizens coming from non european countries, regularly in Italy, may ask for two different solutions, not depending on the period of stay: Inscription to the health national service (SSN), gives complete health insurance , you can also choose a basic doctor by paying an annual amount (valid until the 31st december). In this case you have to go to the local ASL. You will need the "permesso di soggiorno" and a document to assess that you are studying at the university.

A second way is to make a private health insurance , to make in a insurance company which can be italian or not but has to be valid in Italy. It is important to specify that to obtain the "permesso di soggiorno" it is mandatory to have an health insurance.

WHERE

The service, already active in other universities, will be guaranteed from ASUR, zone 7, that organized some basic doctors to take care of students. In particular, the places where you can go are three:

  • Associazione Medica Ippocrate, in the city centr (mainly for economy students)
  • Ambulatorio Collemarino (for those who study medicine)
  • Ambulatorio Via Miglioli (zone Q2), (for students of monteDago).

To go there fo free you have to go only in certain times, you have to bring your university documents (not the badge) and the health insurance card.

About the continuum assistence (the old medical guard), it is free also for students that come from other regions, while before they were supposed to pay 15€ for any visit.
That assistence is available in the city centre at the old hospital Umberto I (Largo Cappelli) every day starting from 20 (tel. 071/8705620 o 071/8705670).

It is still for free and usable from all the students the service offered from the operative unit in Via Colombo 106.

For further informations related to the service, it is possible to visit this page at the website of ASUR
