The European Union makes avaiable to its citizens a huge amount of means to fully live Europe and other affiliated countries. Among these tools, one of the most important is the permanently learning program, the so-called Erasmus+. Starting from the compulsory school, passing through university and even as an adult, the european citizen may exploit these opportunities to live an experience that is not merely staying a period in a foreign country, but a real changing life adventure.
The Erasmus is part of the Erasmus+ program which every year offer to thousands of young universitary students the oppurtunity to carry out an exchange in another university in any EU country anda neighboring non-EU countries. The exchange is not limited only to the study experience but becomes an opening minds experience and let partecipants see the world differently than before. It makes our world "smaller".
"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes" , Marcel Proust.
In 2013, Erasmus Student Network (ESN), starts one of its most ambitious projects: Erasmus in Schools. It aims to put in direct contact eraasmus students with italian high school students to making them aware of topics that are very important for their future, in particular:
- The benefits of carrying out part of their studies abroad;
- Prevent xenofobia in schools and develople their intercultural competencies;
-
The 53 local sections of ESN Italia will collaborate with the National Agency Erasmus+/INDIRE to fullfill the goals of this project.
- An innovative learning based on the direct contact with different realities;
- Awerness of differences into european countries and learn how to treasure it;
Erasmus in Schools creates the opportunity for international students who are studying in Italy to organize lessons, conferences and meetings in schools to share something about their cultures, their knowledge of the world and in this way fascinate kids of the local community, trasmititng to them the profound value of mobility, intercultural learning and internationalisation.
It will be like being already in another country trough the stories of daily life, the language, and the testimonies of Erasmus and Internationals students' exchange experiences.
Experts in the field of human resource managment have declared that international experiences are an added value to one's curriculum vitae and help to develop intercultural skills that are higly required by both European companies and the public sector. To ensure that young people can seize these opportunities, ESN is committed to starting a dialogue with students to help them choose their own path. In a world and in a market that offers less and less certainties, the experience of an exchange allows young people to build a solid and adaptable human and professional profile.
